Junior High Academics Program
Designed for students entering 7th-9th grades, the Junior High Program focuses on enrichment classes to jump start the transition from elementary school to junior or senior high school (see below for list of classes). The coursework is presented in a fun, interesting manner by experienced educators. Their passion for their craft shines through and will ignite an enthusiasm for learning for all our campers.

Highlights
- You create your own experience. Choose three classes from a variety of stimulating offerings.
- Afternoons continue with your choice of activities to include: recreational sports; tennis, golf or soccer instruction, fitness program, SCUBA certification or fine arts workshops.
- Class sizes remain small. This allows for greater personal assistance from teachers.
- Private tutoring is also available.

Instructional Period 1
Essay Writing
Does your writing need focus and clarity? This class will teach you how to write essays and other forms of non-fiction from prewriting through publishing with special focus on organization. Also included is a review of grammar, syntax and mechanics of writing.
Pre-Algebra
Boost your skills for the next school term. Integers, rational numbers, variables, basic equation solving, and problem solving are key topics to be addressed.
Effective Reading and Study Skills
This course is designed to aid in reading non-fiction text. Increase your understanding of what you read using proven reading strategies that can be utilized in classroom reading. Note taking, new word recognition and vocabulary development are also covered in this course.
Instructional Period 2
Algebra 1
Elementary algebra with emphasis placed on developing skills in working with algebraic expressions. Properties of the real number system, linear equations, and inequalities with one and two variables, factoring, graphing, applications and introduction to quadratics will be previewed.
Business Entrepreneurship
If you have ever thought about owning and running your own business, then this is your class. You will use the components of product design, advertising, company and product naming, and business plans to construct your own business.
Geometry
This class previews and highlights basic polygon attributes, coordinate geometry, logic, inductive and deductive reasoning, writing proofs, and 3-dimensional figures.
Public Speaking
Often singled out as the #1 fear of adults, this class will help ease your concerns when speaking in front of a group. Skills related to research, organization, expression, voice control, body language and exposition will be developed to augment your self-confidence and decrease those butterflies.
Instructional Period 3
Government
How do ideas become laws? Participate in a mock lawmaking session. Learn the legislative process and as part of the a group, decide on a "law" to be either ratified or vetoed. Exercise your right to vote in our democracy.
Journalism
Develop an eye for finding those key stories, learn how to conduct interviews, document sources, write by-lines, and research and take notes. The class also discusses ethics in journalism while you cooperate to produce a story that engages the audience.
Creative Writing
Explore the fundamentals of writing imaginatively. Each day you will be creating characters, plots and dialogue. Work in your choice of poetry, fiction, drama or essay. By class' end, you will have completed a short story, novel chapter, or a series of poems.
