Typical Daily Schedule
Tennis Camp for ages 9 - 18For players of all ability levels interested in improving tennis skills and gaining that competitive advantage through small group instruction on-court and off-court strategy sessions. All players are evaluated the first day of camp and placed in competitive groups to maximize their tennis camp experience. Your time on-court will be filled with a combination of group instruction, match play, and 1 on 1 instructional opportunities to really help you achieve your tennis goals. This program is appropriate for the beginner up through the team or tournament level player. This is a 5-day program offered Sun. July 18 - Fri. July 23. topHigh School Players Camp for ages 14 - 18This is a high-intensity program for competitive players on high school teams or playing tournaments. Come to camp with your teammates or alone and reap the rewards of a program designed to help you move up the tennis ladder and get a taste of what college tennis is about. Instruction will be in a practice format utilizing competitive drilling scenarios and match play (singles and doubles). You will also participate in strategy sessions and a tennis conditioning program. Offered Sun. July 18 - Fri. July 23. topMeet the DirectorsHead Coach Gary Glassman is now in his 11th season at Stony Brook. He has made great strides with both the men's and women's tennis programs, transforming his teams into consistent contenders for the America East Championship. During his tenure at Stony Brook, Glassman's players have been named All-America East a total of 45 times. Excellence in the classroom as well as on the court is stressed by Coach Glassman, demonstrated by the continuous recognition his teams receive for academic excellence. Stony Brook players have earned a total of 53 ITA All-Academic Team awards. Coach Glassman enjoys working with players on the court and is especially excited to be working with 4 Star this summer. Assistant Coach Justin Drzal is back for a 7th season as an assistant coach at Stony Brook and is back working with 4 Star Camps. Prior to joining the Stony Brook staff, Drzal was the assistant women's tennis coach at the University of Virginia from 1998 - 2001. While at Virginia, he received the ITA Assistant Coach of the Year Award for the East Region, and helped the Cavaliers to back-to-back 13-10 records. Coach Drzal, a long time member of the 4 Star family, directed our tennis camp at UVa for 10 years. top |
